NICOLE SING, RMT

NICOLE SING

Since attending the West Coast College of Massage Therapy Nicole has been interested in connective tissue and the treatment and release techniques of the 3D web like structure of Fascia.

In 2012, she started to focus her work on the Tensegrity model of the human body after experiencing the effects CoAT Method had on her stubborn soft tissue injuries sustained from a car accident. CoAT (Course of Applied Tensegrity) works with the tension and integrity of the Fascial system. There are no isolated parts to a Tensegrity unit, the entire system responds as a whole. CoAT is a tool to provide gentle yet deep, effective work to regain and maintain ease and fluidity in the body while deepening the relaxation response, decreasing pain, and restoring a sense of general well-being.

CoAT principles can be integrated with common massage techniques to provide longer lasting results. The understanding of fascia is essential to the dance between stability and movement – crucial in high performance, central in recovery from injury and disability, and ever-present in our daily life from our embryological beginnings to the last breath we take.

Nicole is also a Holistic Nutritionist and loves to incorporate this approach in to her practice.

LINA KONOVALOV, Reg. Acu.

I’m Lina, a new Acupuncturist at A Balanced Body. I have a profound and keen interest in human nature and our collective well-being. I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree from McGill University, and a Diploma of Acupuncture from Pacific Rim College.

My journey towards holistic healing led me to explore the ancient wisdom of yoga in India, where I immersed myself in yogic studies at the renowned Sivananda Ashram. Today, my passion for yoga continues to inspire me as I teach and practice daily at Lab Studios, recognizing the body as both a temple and a vessel for self-discovery.

I became a Registered Acupuncturist in October 2023. I am trained in both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Elements acupuncture. My expertise extends to Cosmetic Acupuncture and Myofascial Release, empowering you to address both aesthetic and functional concerns.

I have a keen interest in sports medicine. I specialize in treating acute and chronic injuries, to ensure a swift and effective recovery. My experience also encompasses emotional dysregulation, stress, anxiety, sleep conditions, and digestive concerns. I employ additional modalities including Cupping, Gua Sha, Tui Na Massage, and Diet Therapy, and tailor treatments to meet your unique needs.

In my practice, I believe that your body speaks magnitudes, telling a story of your physical and emotional well-being. My mission is to help you tune in to yourself, guiding you to listen and respond to your body's needs. With a deep interest in the intricate connection between the mind and body, I approach healing from the inside out, understanding that mental states manifest in the physical form.

I believe Acupuncture is a profound method for introducing space and softness into your being when everything else feels like “too much”. When you give yourself the opportunity to pause and breathe, you uncover your inner strength.

MISCHA HARRIS, Reg. Kin. FST

Mischa grew up in Victoria and fell in love with sports at a young age, playing beach volleyball for Team Canada and indoor volleyball for UBC before being sidelined with chronic injuries. Aiming first to fix his own body, Mischa started to learn everything he could about injury rehabilitation and prevention, following up his Bachelor’s of Human Kinetics with a Masters in Experimental Medicine. Through this process, Mischa began to see that to make the biggest changes, each person needs to be treated as a whole. For him this means looking at how the whole body moves, not just the painful areas, and also connecting how mental and emotional states affect the physical body. Mischa loves helping people have “aha” moments about their movement and health and connecting the dots to help restore pain-free movement, relaxation, and joy.

Mischa is a Registered Kinesiologist, Fascial Stretch Therapist, Certified Health Coach, Registered Yoga Teacher, and Pneuma Breathwork facilitator, and has done extensive training and research with the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA). He’s worked with the Canadian Olympic Teams in Volleyball, Soccer, and Field Hockey and is currently furthering his education in the Osteopathic Manual Therapist program with the Canadian School of Osteopathy.
